News Update!

La Clique is changing!

Thanks for all the support from all of our readers and the different brands, PR companies and great people that we have met along the way. We are truly glad to have met, partied with and worked with all of you!

There is an air of change in the air though... Much like that electricity in the air as we move into Spring from Winter, La Clique's roots are being set and we want to grow to do bigger and better things. Don't worry, we will still be here and operating this page BUT we are moving to more of a magazine format so you now can expect when to hear from us and know for sure that all your fashion news arrives in one, glamorous package!

There will be a new site as well but in due course. For now, enjoy La Clique!

Our New Year Starts Here!

Ladies and gentlemen, fashionistas and 'nistos, happy new year and welcome back to La Clique!

It's been a long and restful break and I trust we've all settled into the new year. Starting afresh, making new year's resolutions (and discarding those that we found weren't exactly suited to us) are all parts of how we get ourselves geared up for the year ahead. Too often we get wrapped up in the need to change and be something new or more interesting at this time of year. We forget that what we need to do is not overhaul the person that we are in search of a more exciting existence but build and improve upon the person we already are.

The new year is not just about a new haircut, new jeans, a new bag and bracelet but about a renewed energy for life and the world around us. We at La Clique encourage you to take some time out on this, the  twentieth day of the new year, and take in your surroundings, appreciate where you are no matter where it is because we are all blessed to have the things we possess and the friends and family we have around us. Take time to acknowledge those who have worked with you and stood by you in getting you where you are now as if we don't know where we are from, we will have no clue of where we are going.

In our New Year's Appreciation, La Clique would like to thank Charles Ampadu, Camille A, Hanna-May White and Blood,Sweat&Fashion Magazine, Mode Parties, Forever 21, TASK PR, Paul Costelloe, Thomas Sabo, Arlene Olivera and Bolongaro Trevor, Kirk Originals, Angels&Men, Roberto Angeletti and all the other beautiful people without whom La Clique would not have gotten to where it is now!

This year we can only expect bigger and better things from La Clique so stay tuned, people! We're taking 2012 by storm!

"The perfect way to start London Fashion Week" - Mr. Darkwah

Friday morning, and there's a new kind of buzz in the air. Everything seems sharper, the air more crisp - Fashion Week has arrived! I am getting ready for the Paul Costelloe show (which by the way was at 9:00am so there was no room for being "fashionably late") and am thinking of whether to go "conservative" or all out with the clothing. All out. Conservative is only used in the most dire and dreary situations - fashion week deserves my all!

I remember saying to myself that I hope this season's Fashion Week starts off with a new energy for summer as I felt that we would only be regressing and imitating rather than innovating. Seeing Paul Costelloe's show was a slap in the face to that statement. We'll get to the show in a bit - let me introduce you to two fabulous people I met prior to the show.

" and with plenty of time for a saunter over to Somerset House, hell, you even have time to swagger if necessary..;-)" - Lord Jason Scott

Marathon tweeting started from 8:30am when Lady Robin Budd and Lord Jason Scott were updating each other and myself on their whereabouts and I can honestly say, my tweets were just as frequent and completely focused on London Transport and how I hoped it wouldn't fail me in getting to Somerset House! I arrived at Somerset House with a few minutes to spare but still with the task of finding my companions for the show!

Stop.

"Can I take a quick picture of you, sir?" I obliged as one cannot pass up an opportunity to represent Blood,Sweat&Fashion Magazine (I'm their new fashion editor, just letting you know). Before I knew it, I was holding poses for more photographers with only one thing on my mind - "I need to find everyone!"

"  I am in black skinnys and prada black leather jacket,at picnic table by show entrance" - Lady Robin Budd via Twitter

Luckily I had asked my Lord and Lady to tweet me what they were wearing so I could spot them and within ten minutes we were standing together in line waiting to be let in to the show. We were seen in by the lady who handled PR for Paul Costelloe and were seated by Rob Costelloe a most charming and friendly man (no doubt it runs in the family). Lights dimmed, fashionistas and 'nistos took their seats and the music began. Fashion Week had officially started!

"At costelloe show with   Front row an in complete awe/speechless at GLORIOUS collection,Fave designer this year!" - Lady Robin Budd

"Absolutely in LOVE with the tunic look for men! Thank you Paul Costelloe for starting Fashion Week with a bang!" - Mr. Darkwah

"The baby doll is BACK and I'm glad. Let's move away from grunge and get back to clean lines and light colours. Summer of darkness, goodbye!" - Mr. Darkwah

"Many thanks to Rob Costelloe,  and the Costelloe family for having ,  and myself at the show!" - Mr. Darkwah

The collection was definitely a fluent affirmation of the man and woman for the season with laid-back and simple shapes for the man and angelic femininity for the woman! I hope this continues through fashion week as I'm quite frankly, tired of the fact that we've moved away from admiring beauty and into the seriously dark and grungy realms of fashion. Let's make next summer, a summer of light!

"See, this is why we're doing black cabs from now on" - Mr. Darkwah to Hanna-May on transport ; "How many Orgazmas have you had tonight?"

Ah, a night riddled with memorable quotes only means one thing - I've been out with my fashion family and we've had a ball! Friday night and I'm sure by now everyone knows where I'd be tearing it up (as they say) but prior to my partying at my favourite club (for those that are new to La Clique, it's Bond Club on Kingly street) I was at the launch for Orgazma an energy drink/aphrodisiac to be sold in the UK. The night started off well and, as I'm sure you've gathered from my excited tone, ended even better!

The launch for Orgazma was held at Privee, Knightsbridge and much like the name of the product, the setting was intimate and enticing with low lights and Orgazmas all over the room, calling us to them. I'm sure you're thinking to yourself, if it's an energy drink, it'll probably just be Red Bull in a 'souped up' can but it isn't! The taste, due to one of the main ingredients (taurine) can be thought of as Red Bull-like at first taste but leaves no bitter aftertaste and is nowhere near as sweet (so no worries, one sip won't leave you feeling as though you've eaten a whole candy store!)

The packaging of the drink was appealing also, as colour-wise you could tell that it was competing with energy-drinks already on the market such as Red Bull as they bear the same colour scheme. However, Orgazma has found a way to appeal to women more directly as in the red section, there is a rose on the packaging - giving a sensual feeling to what otherwise would be seen as a 'butch' product. I do feel, however, that the colour scheme, though a clear indicator of their competition and the design could have been more different and brought something new to the table as curiosity often leads people to purchase more than when they have a vague idea of what the product is (the instant assumption that it tastes like Red Bull).

The event was lovely (orgasmic, even) and live performer Dario provided a 'wedding singer' touch to the event singing everything from Ricky Martin to Elvis! For me, what really made the night was the kindness of the event's host Patrick Ribbsaeter. He definitely knew how to keep everyone happy and made the night a pleasant one!

Thank you Patrick, for an orgasmic night!

The second part of the night was played out at Bond Club (my spot) with Camille, Charles, Kareem and new friend, Hanna-May of BloodSweat&Fashion Magazine. I have said this before and I will say it again - Bond KNOWS how to do client service (I chose client as customer sounds a little cheap, don't you agree?) We got to the club and were seen in by Mrs Gliss who saw that our night at Bond started well and ran smoothly.

Already on a high from earlier on in the night (I'm sure my Orgazmas had something to do with it!), I was ready to party hard and I tell you - I danced! The DJ knew exactly what he was doing and kept us wanting more - guessing where the music would take us next! It's as if he read my mind when he played Sean Paul's Temperature and when he played Run The World (Girls) by Beyonce, I don't know what everyone else was doing but I was definitely in a world of my own!

If you've read my posts on nights at Bond and still haven't gone, what are you waiting for? They are very welcoming and pleasant - get down there!

It was a pleasure meeting Patrick Ribbsaeter, Hanna-May and Mrs Gliss! I hope to see you all soon!

Great nights are made by the people we're with!
